Mobile Phones - liquid damage, screen broken.

So often our costly and precious to heart mobile, which we buy at such a high price from our savings, gets damaged. The repair cost is almost always enormous.

Liquid/ water damage. Phone fell in toilet. Phone got washed along with clothes. Phone fell out of pocket. Or phone got lost.

Phone damage cause monetary loss along with the loss of data including - contacts, SMSes which we keep for future references, other texts in apps like WhatsApp,  customized settings of apps, among others.

Liquid damage phone or screen damage phones are not covered under warranty. What if the phone gets such damage within a few days of purchase and repair cost is almost 60-80% of phone price. This creates a dilemma.
Should I get it repaired by paying such a huge cost? or
Should I buy a new phone?
Would the phone work like new when repaired?

The biggest cost items in a mobile phone is the Screen and the Motherboard. We would always have some people for whom screen is damaged and others for whom Motherboard is damaged. The mobile company would usually charge them both - total of which would be more than the price of the phone.

Say a new mobile costs Rs 20,000/-. The motherboard replacement would cost around Rs 12,000/- and screen replacement would cost around Rs 14,000/- at the authorized service center. The total cost 26,000/-.

The parts supplied by local repair shops can never be trusted.

So, why not have a platform where people can share what is damaged in their phones and find someone else would needs the working part. If my screen is damaged, I can offer my motherboard to someone at a fair price and it would be a win win situation for both.

If you are willing to participate, share your mobile details and I'll publish it here for others to know and contact as required.

Mobile Number Portability (MNP)

With mobile number portability, you retain the same number and change to the desired network. The procedure is very simple.  In Step 5, it has been mentioned that you'll get porting date and time through SMS. However, in practice you might not get an SMS. Just wait for the network in previous SIM to go away and then insert the new SIM. Probably, it'll be activated (or wait for the network to appear). Complete the activation procedure if required - this might include calling customer care for tele-verification. MNP can now be done across any network across the country.  The service provider for Zone-2 has made available online request tracking status. The Zone-2 includes the states of- Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar (includes Jharkhand), Karnataka, Kerala, Kolkata, MP (includes Chhattisgarh), North East (includes Arunachal Pradesh / Manipur/ Meghalaya / Mizoram / Nagaland / Tripura), Orissa, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu including Chennai. Credit Card - Why or why not?

"From what I heard about it, I am never going to get a credit card for myself", said a colleague. I remembered having the exact same thoughts a few year ago. So, what is this that make us apprehensive about the credit card ownership? Easy credit availability and excessive rates of interest in such a manner that the user can go bankrupt. It is not that simple. Read on to find out. A credit card have a lot to offer to the users. There is no trap by the banks. However, some users do not try to understand the basic Terms and Conditions and fall under huge debt. It offers interest free credit for 30-50 days (depends on card). So, its interest free, what's the problem? Let's say a statement cycle is from 1st to last day of a month. The statement for expenditure is generated on 1st February for period 01 Jan to 31 Jan. The due date for payment is, say, 10th Feb. So, for expenditure on 1 Jan, you pay on 10 Feb, i.e. after 40 days. And for expenditure on 31 Jan, y...
